Box Score NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team had two set points against 15th-ranked Elmira on Sunday, but it wasn't to be.
Bard lost to Elmira, 3-0, on the final day of a United Volleyball Conference Crossover. Set scores for the winners were 28-26, 25-16 and 25-14.
The Raptors got up, 15-10, in the first set before Elmira responded. Even then, Bard hung tough and rallied from a 23-20 deficit to force extra point. A kill by
Billy Williams gave Bard a 25-24 lead and a set point, but Williams had an attack error on the next point and it was tied again. An attack error by Elmira gave Bard another shot to win the set at 26-25.
A kill for Elmira and two attack errors by Bard gave Elmira the set, 28-26.
In the second set, Bard never led after an 11-11 tie; and in the third set, Bard simply never led. Elmira is 14-9 overall, 6-4 in the UVC.
Bard got nine kills from Williams and eight from
Zack Nussdorf;
Henry Kasiske had 20 assists and seven digs. The Raptors are 3-17, 0-10 in the UVC.
The Raptors next host Mount St. Vincent and Lehman in a non-league tri-match on Saturday.
