It was a frustrating game for Bard. The Raptors obviously learned a lesson from the first meeting between the schools, a game won by St. Lawrence, 75-60, on the strength of 11-for-23 shooting from beyond the three-point line. So on Friday night, Bard fought and scratched and battled to take the three-pointer away.

It worked. St. Lawrence was 0-for-4 from back there in the first half, and 3-for-12 for the game.

But Bard had one of its worst shooting nights of the season (30 percent) and St. Lawrence went 23-of-27 from the foul line to win the game going away.

Bard immediately cut into the nine-point halftime deficit and it was three less than five minutes into the second half. St. Lawrence pushed it back to nine.

Bard cut the lead to four twice at the midway point of the second half and had the ball - but the Raptors either missed those shots or turned it over, allowing St. Lawrence to push the lead back to nine in both instances.

With 7:30 left, Bard pushed again, cutting the lead to five. Bard missed its next two shots and a free throw, and St. Lawrence pushed it back to nine.

The final push came with 4:19 left, when freshman Brandon Cunningham hit a pair of free throws, making it 48-43 with 4:19 left in the game. But Bard went 0-for-6 with a pair of turnovers in that last 4:19, and the game ended quietly, 58-43.

St. Lawrence got 18 points and nine rebounds from sophomore Brady Condlin (Massena, NY), 14 points off the bench from junior Payton Stahler (Canajoharie, NY), and 11 points and eight rebounds from junior Janpeter Brase (Lake Wylie, SC). The Saints (8-11, 6-4 Liberty League) play at Vassar on Saturday at 4.
