ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - A hot start to the second half gave Lehman College a modest lead over Bard College on Friday night.

Down the stretch, at a couple of key moments, Bard forced Lehman to take some pretty tough shots.

They made them. So Bard lost, 88-80, and has lost four in a row.

The first five minutes of the second half changed the game, but Lehman's rebounding advantage was the real story.

Bard had a slight lead for most of the first half, but Lehman put together a run and led, 37-36, at the break. The rebounding edge at that point was already 25-10, but the Raptors shot the ball better in the first 20 minutes (48 percent) than Lehman did (41 percent), so the game was effectively even.

The Lightning (4-3) came out blazing in the second half, led by 6-6 sophomore Jerrome Jones (Bronx, NY). After being held to six points in the first half, he shot 5-for-6 and scored 11 points in the first 5:22 of the second half, leading Lehman to an eight-point lead.

Bard (2-4) hung in there. The deficit shrunk to five once, and to six a couple of times, but the Raptors couldn't get a stop when they really needed to. Jones continued to torment Bard from the field and on the glass, throwing a real wrench into the mix when the big man hit a couple of three-pointers.

The final rebounding advantage was 44-31, including 21 offensive rebounds and 21 second-chance points for the Lightning. More than half (46) of Lehman's points came in the paint. Lehman shot 59 percent from the field in the second half, while Bard shot 38 percent, so Bard never saw the lead in the second half.

Jones finished with 26 points and 13 rebounds; junior Brandon Stolz (Bronx, NY) added 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Senior Lamar Powell led the Raptors with 24 points and four assists. Freshman Alex Fabean-Scotch matched his career high with 16 points to go with three assists and two steals, junior Siondueh Burnette added 14 points and eight rebounds, and freshman Pat Kelly chipped in with a career-high 11 points to go with seven rebounds.

Bard has a day of rest, then a game at Sarah Lawrence College on Sunday afternoon at 2. You can follow that game via Live Stats or Live Video right here.
