MADISON, N.J. - As Tuesday night's game started to drift away, the Bard College men's basketball team decided that if Drew University was going to win the game, it was going to have to be at the foul line.

So that's exactly what Drew University did.

While Bard was struggling from the field in the second half, Drew made 21-of-26 from the foul line in the final 20 minutes and topped Bard, 86-76.

Bard (2-1) had the lead early in the game, but a late 13-4 run gave Drew a 39-37 halftime lead. The Raptors began the second half on an 8-0 run, spurred by three-pointers from Siondueh Burnette and Garrett Clifton, to make it 45-39.

Over the next four minutes, though, while Bard went cold from the field, Drew ran off 11 straight points, and that's where the game changed. Bard never saw the lead again. The bulge grew to 16 with 6:05 left in the game.

Bard put together a 12-4 run to cut it to eight with about three minutes left, but the Rangers made their foul shots down the stretch and the Raptors lost by 10.

After shooting 45 percent from the field in the first half, Bard shot 34 percent in the second half. For the game, Drew went 26-for-33 from the foul line, while Bard went 11-for-15.

Drew sophomore Mike Klinger (Franklin Park, NJ) led the winners with 26 points, including 14-of-16 from the foul line.

Powell, coming off a Most Outstanding Player Award over the weekend and a Liberty League Performer of the Week nod on Monday, finished with a career-high 29 points - 16 in the first half. Burnette and Alex Fabean-Scotch scored 14 points apiece; Burnette added a team-high nine rebounds.

Bard will next travel to Virginia for a Saturday matchup with Marymount University. You can follow that game right here via Live Stats and Live Video.
