Raptors swept by ninth-ranked New Paltz

Box Score NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team lost to ninth-ranked SUNY New Paltz, 3-0, on Wednesday night in the United Volleyball Conference opener for both teams.

Set scores for New Paltz were 25-10, 25-17 and 25-18.

The Hawks, who entered the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll this week at No. 9, were dominant. New Paltz hit .493 for the match and blasted 12 aces. Freshman outside hitter Tim Ferriter (Rochester, NY) led the Hawks with 10 kills and he hit .714 with no errors.

New Paltz is 6-0 after beating three ranked teams last week. Six UVC teams are currently ranked in the Top 15.

Bard (1-5) struggled with New Paltz's size and depth. The young Raptors had a brief 6-5 lead in the second set, and rallied at one point to cut it to 16-13, but the Hawks pulled away. Again in the third set, Bard held a couple of early leads and trailed just 15-12 at one point, but New Paltz scored 10 of the next 13 points for the sweep.

The Raptors got six kills from Billy Williams and 14 assists from Henry Kasiske. Kasiske and Daniel Gagne each had four digs.
