CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Bard College men's volleyball team lost to No. 11 MIT and No. 2 Springfield College on Friday, the first day of the MIT Scramble.
The Raptors were swept, 3-0, in both matches, but had one of their best-hitting matches of the season against MIT. Set scores for the Engineers (22-8) were 25-21, 25-17 and 25-21, but Bard hit .265 as a team and led midway through all three sets.
Senior
Nick Chan led the Raptors with 16 kills (.324), sophomore
Billy Williams had five kills and 10 digs, and sophomore
Henry Kasiske had 27 assists and seven digs.
Damianos Lazaridis Giannopoulos added five kills and hit .556.
Second-ranked Springfield (27-5) defeated Bard 25-16, 25-17 and 25-21. Chan had nine kills, and Kasiske had 25 assists and five digs.
Bard (9-18) wraps up the 2012 season on Saturday as part of the MIT Scramble. The Raptors will play Southern Vermont College at 10:30 a.m., then Emmanuel College at 3 p.m.
