COBLESKILL, N.Y. - It was just last winter when Bard added men's and women's swimming as NCAA Div. III varsity programs. It would be reasonable to expect that some school records will be set early on, and the program grows.
On Friday, the Raptors broke eight school records in a meet at SUNY Cobleskill.

The Cobleskill men defeated Bard, 125-76, and the Cobleskill women beat Bard, 145-63, but the Raptors won seven individual events and two relays.
On the men's side,
Theo Black and
Josh Hodge were double-winners, Black taking the 50-free and 100-back, and Hodge taking the 50-fly and 50-back. Their times in the 50-free and 50-fly, respectively, were school records.
Scott Vander Veen broke the school record in winning the 100-free, and he was part of the winning 200-medley relay team (Black, Hodge,
Jin-Woo Jun, Vander Veen) that also set a school record. That same foursome, in a different order, won the 200-free relay (Jun, Hodge, Vander Veen, Black).
For the Bard women,
Emily Hoelzli won the 50-fly, and
Nicole Rosato won the 100-free. The women's 200-free relay team (
Caroline Caulfield,
Moriah Van Cleef, Hoelzli, Rosato) placed second but broke the school record in the event. Rosato also shattered the school record by nine seconds while placing second in the 200-IM.
Up next for the Bard swim teams is a meet at Cazenovia College with SUNY Delhi and Herkimer County Community College on Nov. 10.
