Bard College senior
Nick Chan has been named a United Volleyball Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 30.
Chan led Bard to a 5-0 start with 3.32 kills, 1.53 digs, and 0.53 blocks per set. He recorded 23 kills with a .488 hitting percentage and added six digs in a five-set Raptors' victory over Lancaster Bible. Chan totaled 16 kills and 12 digs in a five-set win over Elms.
Elmira's Michael Vellutato was also named a UVC Player of the Week.
A two-time Skyline Conference Player of the Year, this is Chan's first honor from the UVC, which Bard officially joined this year. Last year, Bard played several UVC teams but still was a member of the Skyline Conference, winning a second consecutive league title.
On Wednesday, the Raptors will play their first UVC match against SUNY New Paltz at 7 p.m. at home. The Hawks were ranked 13th in the preseason American Volleyball Coaches Association Div. III poll.
