UTICA, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team won both matches it played on the first day of the SUNY Institute of Technology Tournament Saturday.
Bard played Elms College first, taking the first set, 25-22. But Elms took the next two sets, 25-16 and 25-20, so the Raptors were on the brink of their first loss of 2012.
Bard rallied, taking the fourth set, 25-14, then took the deciding set, 15-10.
Nick Chan had 16 kills and 12 digs,
Ryan Fallon had 12 kills and hit .611, and
Henry Kasiske had 34 assists and three aces.
Later, Bard swept Gallaudet, 3-0, by scores of 25-4, 25-12 and 25-14.
Brice Ormesher led the way with six kills, and
Andrew Cortrite had six digs.
Bard (3-0) plays two more matches on Sunday at SUNYIT - Lancaster Bible at 10 a.m., and host SUNYIT at 2.
