Bard volleyball swept by Vassar

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team was swept by Vassar College, 3-0, on Wednesday night in a Liberty League match.

The set scores were 25-7, 25-14 and 25-8.

Vassar, 9-5 overall and 3-1 in the Liberty League, raced out to a 10-3 lead in the first set and the Raptors never got closer.

Bard responded in the second set, keeping it close and at one point taking a 13-11 lead. But the last of nine ties in the set was at 13-13, as the Brewers won 14 of the last 15 points in the set.

In the third set, Bard got to within 9-6 before Vassar closed out the match with a 16-2 run. Lexi Cooper led Bard with nine assists and six digs, and Julia Denning added nine digs.

The Raptors are 3-10 overall, 0-4 in the Liberty League. They will participate in another Liberty League weekend beginning on Friday, when they take on Union and St. Lawrence at Clarkson. Then on Saturday, they'll play Skidmore and Clarkson at St. Lawrence.
