No. 11 Medaille dispatches Bard, 3-0

Bard senior Eli Strauss had 12 kills and hit .545 on Saturday in a loss to No. 11 Medaille College.
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team has had five opportunities to play teams ranked in the top 15 of the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

So far, they haven't been able to make a statement in those games.

Bard was swept by No. 11 Medaille College on Saturday at a United Volleyball Conference crossover tournament at Vassar, 25-22, 25-20 and 25-17. In those five matches against ranked teams so far this season, Bard has won just one set.

Medaille, 15-4 overall, got 13 kills from junior Nick Johnson (Buffalo, N.Y.) and 11 from sophomore Erin Kelly (Clifton Springs, N.Y.) Senior setter Ryan Maxwell (Amherst, N.Y.) had 28 assists.

Bard, 11-8 overall, got 12 kills apiece from senior Eli Strauss (Queens, N.Y.) and junior Nick Chan (Victor, N.Y.) Strauss had a .545 kill percentage. Freshman setter Henry Kasiske (Los Angeles, Calif.)  had 24 assists and seven digs, and junior libero Andrew Cortrite (Los Angeles, Calif.) had seven digs.

The Raptors have two more games on Sunday - against Hilbert at 10 a.m. and against Elmira at 2 p.m. - to finish the crossover event.
