ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team blasted Brooklyn College on Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 3-0 sweep, 25-12, 25-16 and 25-18.
The Raptors, 6-6 overall and 1-0 in the Skyline Conference, jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the first set and breezed to a 25-12 win.
Brooklyn College (2-4 overall, 2-2 CUNYAC) had a short-lived 4-3 lead in the second set, but Bard stormed to a 25-16 win, producing a stellar .625 attack percentage in that frame.
The third set was tied at 8-8, but Bard took over from there and held off the Bulldogs, 25-18.
For the match, Bard hit .310 and Brooklyn hit .060.
The Raptors were led by senior Max Howard (Lafayette, CA), who had 10 kills, 14 digs and a .389 attack percentage. Freshman setter
Henry Kasiske (Los Angeles, CA) had 28 assists and four digs, and junior libero
Andrew Cortrite (Los Angeles, CA) added 14 digs.
Freshman Alexander Shivko (Brooklyn, NY) had 10 kills for the Bulldogs and sophomore Guillermo Melosevich (Belleville, NY) had 24 assists.
Bard next plays on Wednesday at home against Stevens Institute of Technology, a fellow member of the United Volleyball Conference. The Ducks were ranked sixth in the nation in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Div. III poll. The game begins at 7 p.m.
