UTICA, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team dished out it's share of punishment this weekend, but the Raptors also took their lumps.
After beating Hilbert College and losing to SUNYIT on Saturday, Bard also split Sunday, losing to Stevenson University, 3-0, and defeating The Sage Colleges, 3-0. After playing five games in four days, the Raptors have begun the season at 3-2 overall.
Freshman setter
Henry Kasiske (Los Angeles, CA) was named to the All-Tournament team late Sunday afternoon.
The tournament was dominated by Stevenson (4-0), and the Raptors had their hands full first thing on Sunday morning. The Mustangs swept Bard, 25-17, 25-21 and 25-22. Juniors
Nick Chan (Victor, NY) and
Eliah Gardner (Chatham, NY) led Bard with 10 and six kills, respectively.
Kasiske had 27 assists; Chan and junior
Andrew Cortrite (Los Angeles, CA) had five digs apiece.
Later, Bard took care of Skyline Conference foe Sage, 25-23, 25-19 and 25-21, in a non-conference match. Chan had 14 kills, Kasiske had 32 assists, Cortrite had nine digs, and junior
Ryan Fallon (Ridgewood, NY) contributed five kills and four blocks.
At 3-2, Bard hasn't played a Skyline Conference match yet that counts in the standings. Bard is also a member of the United Volleyball Conference (UVC), and is 1-0, having beaten SUNYIT on Thursday at home.
Up next for the Raptors is a UVC match on the road at Vassar College on Tuesday night at 7. Bard is not eligible for the UVC postseason this year, but it is eligible for weekly and postseason awards.
