Matt Burns joined the Bard coaching staff in the summer of 2012.
Burns was a four-year letter-winner and 2010 captain as a student-athlete at Plattsburgh State, leading the team to a school-record 30 wins that year and a national ranking, the first in the school's history. He graduated from Plattsburgh State with combined Bachelor of Arts/Master of Science for Teachers in December of 2011.
After working as a volunteer assistant for a short time at Sullivan County Community College, Burns became an Assistant Baseball Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at SUNY Oneonta, finishing there in June of 2012.
In the summer of 2012, Burns was an Assistant Coach for the Watertown Wizards of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL), working with players from all three NCAA Divisions and coaching third base.
At Bard, Burns is responsible for working with the Raptors catchers, hitters and for recruiting players from all over the country.
Burns lives in nearby Ellenville, N.Y.
