RECAP: Women’s Volleyball Completes Arcadia Quad Match

The Bard College women's volleyball team dropped its final two matches of the Arcadia quad-match on Saturday against Muhlenberg 0-3 and Arcadia 1-3.

The total statistics were impressive, as Nala Roman finished with 18 kills, Isis Pribble tallied 15, and Fernanda Julian dished out 24 assists. Julian added 15 digs, while Pribble had 14. In the aces category, Ava Rhinehart and Pribble led the team with three apiece. Penelope Joosten Lingo contributed 14 assists and ten digs, leading the Raptors in digs in the Arcadia match.

Bard will play against Farmingdale State on the road on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Bard 0, Muhlenberg 3

Set one was close up until it was 9-9. At that point, Muhlenberg rattled off 12 consecutive points and closed it out swiftly. The Mules led the kills category 14-6. They also hit .333, their best of any set in the match.

The Raptors continued to play from behind in the second set, and they clawed back from an early 5-0 deficit, going on an 8-1 run to take an 8-6 lead. Bard continued to apply pressure, holding a 14-9 advantage after winning six of the next nine points. Muhlenberg got within two at 12-14, 15-17, and 16-18, threatening to steal the lead. The Raptors held the Mules off up until 20-18, when Muhlenberg had a great service run to win the final seven points.

It didn't take Bard long to take a lead in the third set, going up 6-3. Muhlenberg turned it around, winning 11 of the next 14 points to lead 14-9. The Raptors used a kill from Kylah Demers to spark some momentum, as that was the first of six straight Raptors points to put Bard ahead 15-14. At 17-15 Bard, the Mules went on a 10-4 run to continue their strong finishes of sets and sweep the Raptors.

Bard 1, Arcadia 3

Bard won the first two points of the match, but it was followed up by a string of 13 straight points by Arcadia. The Raptors won back-to-back points to make it 4-13, but the Knights prevented that from happening for the remainder of the set en route to a double-digit margin of victory. Arcadia hit .615 and scored nine points from aces.

The Raptors started out with a 4-2 lead in the second set. Arcadia took a 6-4 lead after four straight points, again finding success with their serves. The Raptors won five of the next six points to swing the momentum back, taking a 9-7 lead. Another lead change occurred at 10-11, but Bard quickly answered, building a 15-11 advantage. The Raptors kept the Knights at arms' length, eventually finishing on a 4-1 run to even the match at one set all. Bard limited its attack errors, hitting just three to Arcadia's eight.

Set three began with back-to-back scores from Bard. Then, seven straight went to Arcadia. Bard cut it to four at 8-12 after a Rhinehart ace. The Knights secured the set due to an 8-4 run that led to a 20-12 lead. In the fourth set, Arcadia took care of business, winning the first 11 points. The lead was as large as 13 at 18-5. Bard cut it to 11 with back-to-back points to make it 9-20, but Arcadia stopped any thoughts of a comeback.
