SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The Bard College men's tennis team was outplayed by the Union Garnet Chargers on Tuesday afternoon.
At No. 1 doubles, Nick Oh and Peter Trimble put up a fight, breaking and holding to stay in the set, which ended 2-6. At No. 2 doubles, Blake Kendall and Ciaran Chamberlain got a hold on the back of Kendall's serve. At No. 3 doubles, Jackson Brent and Daniel Hsu were partnered up again, and Brent got a service hold, but they could not claw back from an early deficit.
Oh earned four games at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, Trimble was unable to stop Union's momentum, and the Garnet Chargers did not drop a game. Brent tested his Union opponent at No. 3 singles, who passed without a major blemish.
Hsu challenged the Garnet Chargers at No. 4 singles, 1-6, 0-6. At No. 5 singles, Kendall found some traction despite battling an illness, and he had a 1-6, 0-6 scoreline. Chamberlain converted his chances at net well and earned a game at No. 6 singles, but Union prevented him from getting his second singles win.
The top four will play at ITA Fall Regionals starting on Saturday, while the next dual match is next Thursday at RPI at 4 p.m.
