SCRANTON, PA — The Bard college men's tennis team defeated the Marywood Lancers on Friday afternoon, 5-2. Bard got wins at all three doubles.
At No. 1 doubles, Nick Oh and Peter Trimble won 6-2. The No. 2 doubles team of Ciaran Chamberlain and Blake Kendall raced out to a 5-0 start and got a crucial 6-2 win to give Bard the doubles point. At No. 3 doubles, Jackson Brent and Daniel Hsu also managed a 6-2 victory.
Oh cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over his Marywood opponent at No. 1 singles. Trimble found a way to pull through in two sets, 6-3, 6-1, winning at No. 2 singles for the first time.
Brent made his debut at No. 3 singles, where he wore down his opponent and clawed back to win the second set. Unfortunately the final score line went to Marywood, 6-4, 5-7, 11-9. At No. 4 singles, Hsu had a strong start against the Pacers' No. 4 en route to winning 6-0, 6-3.
Kendall had a hard-fought match where the second set was decided by a single break, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 5 singles. Wisdom Crawford played his first collegiate match at No. 6 singles, picking up six games, 3-6, 3-6.
The Raptors will resume action tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. against Pratt for their home opener.
