ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College women's lacrosse team fell to the Vassar Brewers on Wednesday evening, 1-16. It was Bard's Stick it Pink game to raise money for Miles of Hope, a local non-profit organization that provides funds to women affected by breast cancer.

Lexie Blackburn became the second Raptor with 500 career saves, alongside Kaylynn Tran. Blackburn had 12 saves in today's game and has solidified herself as no. 2 in career saves in Raptor history.

Rian Sullivan had the Raptors' lone goal. She added a ground ball. Morgan Kottka was active with an assist, two ground balls, two caused turnovers, and two draw controls. Eva Hersey tallied a team-high three caused turnovers, two ground balls, and a draw control.

Carmen Merrick recorded a team-high three ground balls plus a caused turnover. Lexie Blackburn racked up 12 saves, two ground balls, and a caused turnover. Gwyn Downey posted two ground balls. Kayla Francis was a big part of the Raptors' transition game and also had two draw controls. Ella Perreault chipped in a caused turnover and a draw control.

In a defensive first period, the Raptors held the Brewers to two goals, largely thanks to six saves by Blackburn. Bard had a shot from Kottka with 1:14 remaining in the period that went wide right. A big second period from Vassar saw them take 12 shots on goal, leading to nine goals. With 3:35 to go, Kottka found Sullivan, who caught it and fired a shot that found the back of the net to put Bard on the board.

Bard had a couple of early shots that didn't go its way, with Hersey and Jamison each slinging one. To start the fourth, the Raptors forced a shot clock violation, but couldn't capitalize. Bard continued to pressure, causing 11 turnovers. The Raptors found five shot opportunities, four on goal. Good hands from the Vassar goalkeeper kept the Raptors at bay, and the Bard defense was nearly as exceptional, with just one score allowed.

The Raptors' final game of the season is on Saturday at 3 p.m. against St. Lawrence, when the team will celebrate their four seniors: Blackburn, Downey, Perreault and Lily Seale
