RECAP: Women’s Lacrosse Knocked Off by Skidmore

The Bard College women's lacrosse team set its sights on Skidmore on Saturday afternoon, ultimately dropping the game 2-23.

Gwendolyn Jamison scored a goal. Eva Hersey had a goal, a team-high four draw controls, and a ground ball. Ella Perreault collected two draw controls and a caused turnover.

Rian Sullivan chipped in a ground ball. Carmen Merrick was active with a ground ball.
Morgan Kottka and Electra Wilmerding also finished with a ground ball each. Lexie Blackburn made a season-high 16 saves, adding two ground balls.

Skidmore went ahead 1-0 in the first minute of the game, but Bard tied it with a man-up goal by Jamison at the 11:59 mark. The Thoroughbreds made it 6-1 after the first period. The Raptors had two shots on goal in the second period, both from Hersey. However, both opportunities were stopped and Skidmore built its lead.

Bard had the edge in draw controls in the third period, 3-2. Unfortunately, the Raptors couldn't get closer after a last-minute shot from Kottka was blocked. The Raptors had a better defensive period in the fourth, allowing only two goals and controlling possession well. All five of their clear attempts were successful, and at the 13:05 mark, Hersey found the net on a free position shot.

The Raptors will stay on the road next weekend, with their next game at 4 p.m. on Friday at Ithaca.
