The Bard College women's lacrosse team fell to the Ithaca Bombers on Friday afternoon, 1-22.
Gwendolyn Jamison netted the Raptors' goal, with
Julia Champagne dishing out the assist. Jamison added a ground ball, a draw control, and a caused turnover.
Eva Hersey had three ground balls and a caused turnover.
Lexie Blackburn recorded 11 saves plus a caused turnover.
Morgan Kottka and
Gwyn Downey tallied a caused turnover and a ground ball.
Carmen Merrick had one caused turnover.
Rian Sullivan finished with a draw control.
Ella Perreault and
Astrid Tillberg each collected a ground ball.
Ithaca struck early, going ahead 6-0 in the opening 4:28. The Raptors then settled down, and Champagne found Jamison for a Bard goal with 3:53 remaining on the first period clock. The Bombers answered with a pair of goals separated by 42 seconds. Eight more from Ithaca made it 16-1 at halftime.
In the third period, Ithaca added to its lead with a goal at the 13:26 mark. About four minutes later, Sullivan had a step on her defender and attempted a shot but was blocked by the Bombers. At the 3:34 mark, Hersey also found room to maneuver and put a shot on goal, but it was saved. In the fourth period, Bard held Ithaca to two goals but couldn't come back.
Bard has a quick turnaround with a game at RPI tomorrow at 3 p.m.
