ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College women's lacrosse team was shut out by the RIT Tigers, 18-0, on Saturday afternoon at Ferrari Soccer & Lacrosse Complex.

Lexie Blackburn had a career-high three caused turnovers, five saves, and five ground balls. Eva Hersey contributed four ground balls, three draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Ella Perreault added three ground balls and a caused turnover.

Julia Champagne tallied two ground balls. Rian Sullivan had two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Morgan Kottka contributed two ground balls and two draw controls. Carmen Merrick posted a ground ball and a caused turnover. Gwendolyn Jamison applied pressure with two shots on goal.

A 4-0 RIT start forced a Bard timeout at the 10:14 mark. The Tigers moved the ball around well, and two more goals made it 6-0 with 8:51 left. Merrick caused a turnover at the 6:43 mark, but the Raptors were unable to clear it. Four more Tiger goals made it a 10-0 start after one.

Bard only allowed one goal in the second period, coming at the 11:22 mark. The Raptors were even in ground balls, 6-6, and even in draw controls, 1-1. RIT struggled to get shots on goal, with just one getting through out of seven total shots.

In the second half, Bard was able to threaten breaking the shutout, gaining control a few more times. After forcing a shot clock violation at the 1:38 mark, Perreault and Hersey were able to clear the ball, finding Jamison ahead of the pack. Jamison's shot was saved, but it broke ground for the Raptors as the first shot of the game.

With about eight minutes remaining, Bard took its time on an offensive possession. Sullivan drew the defense out, passed to Jamison, who had another good look but couldn't find the net. Champagne had another shot from close range with 2:39 remaining, but the shutout was sealed after a save.

Bard returns to action next Saturday, when it travels to Skidmore for a 3 p.m. game.
