ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College women's lacrosse team fell to the Rochester Yellowjackets, 20-3 on Friday evening at Ferrari Soccer & Lacrosse Complex. The game was dedicated to Ovarian Cancer Awareness.

Eva Hersey had a goal, an assist, five ground balls, three caused turnovers, and four draw controls. Gwendolyn Jamison scored two goals. Julia Champagne notched a career-high five ground balls. Morgan Kottka had an assist plus career-highs in ground balls (3), caused turnovers (1) and draw controls (3).

Lexie Blackburn had 15 saves in goal, making it four straight games with 10+ saves. She added six ground balls and a caused turnover. Astrid Tillberg had a caused turnover and a ground ball. Rian Sullivan tallied two ground balls, two draw controls, and a caused turnover.

Ella Perreault collected four ground balls. Fae Johnson chipped in a caused turnover while Carmen Merrick and Sophie Folds each had a ground ball.

In the first period, Blackburn had seven saves, and the Raptors as a whole had nine ground balls. However, Rochester's dominance in the draw control category, 7-2, allowed the Yellowjackets to take an 8-0 lead. Rochester added two more in the first three minutes of the second. Then, Bard got on the board with 8:54 to play, as Hersey jammed through a free position goal. Rochester answered and led 13-1 at half, but Bard cut its turnovers in half and was even in draw controls and ground balls in the second frame.

After a Yellowjacket goal made it 14-1 35 seconds into the third period, Bard forced Rochester to go scoreless over the next six minutes. At 8:01, Rochester scored in transition, but Bard answered with 3:13 to go during a man-up situation. The Yellowjackets scored a third goal out of the draw control to make it 16-2.

Bard led in the draw controls category in the fourth, 3-2. However, Rochester had the first three goals of the period, forcing a timeout. At the 5:31 mark, Kottka found a cutting Jamison for a slick goal. That was the final score for Bard, and the final was 20-3 after a Yellowjacket goal at the 4:15 mark.

The Raptors will host RIT for Junior Day & Alumni Day tomorrow at 2 p.m.
