ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard women's lacrosse team was heartbroken by a last-minute goal by the FDU-Florham Devils on Wednesday evening at Lorenzo Ferrari Soccer & Lacrosse Complex, 12-13.

Gwendolyn Jamison set the Raptors' single-game record for goals, with ten. She added an assist, a ground ball, and a caused turnover. Eva Hersey tallied a goal, three assists, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Rian Sullivan also contributed a goal and three assists, in addition to a ground ball and a draw control.

Ella Perreault scooped up a career-high nine draw controls, six ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Her nine draw controls is tied for the fourth-most in program history. Carmen Merrick dished out her first career assist, adding seven ground balls and two caused turnovers. Morgan Kottka had her first career assist as well, plus two draw controls and a ground ball. Lexie Blackburn had 10 saves and three ground balls.

A quick 2-0 start by the Raptors had them feeling good with 11:09 on the clock. However, back-to-back goals from the Devils tied it up with 7:02 to play. Hersey found Jamison under two minutes later, allowing the Raptors to re-take the lead, 3-2. After another FDU-Florham goal at the 4:16 mark, the scoring dried up for the first period.

Bard won the turnover battle in the second period, with four to FDU-Florham's six. The Raptors were also able to clear the ball 6-of-6 times. Bard went down one just 33 seconds into the period, but the Raptors secured the ensuing draw control and scored. Bard won the first four draw controls of the period, allowing them to dictate play. Jamison scored or assisted on all five of Bard's goals in the period and it resulted in an 8-6 lead at halftime.

After Jamison netted the first Bard score of the third period, a midfield battle ensued, with neither team breaking through for over four minutes. FDU-Florham was the team to start a run, with four straight goals to take a 10-9 lead. The Devils led the shots on goal battle 8-2, but the Raptors stayed in it with four saves. FDU-Florham also won the ground ball category 9-5.

Sullivan found Jamison on a flash to the middle 32 seconds into the fourth, knotting it at 10-10. More back-and-forth action continued, with the Devils taking a lead 11-10 just over two minutes later. Five minutes went by with no goals, but a critical sequence started at the 7:16 mark when Hersey caused a turnover in the offensive half, Kottka grabbed the loose ball, and found Jamison with just the goalie to beat for a man-up goal. Perreault won a huge draw control, and Bard took a 12-11 lead at 5:59 with a Jamison goal on the run. FDU-Florham scored the next two goals, including the game-winner with 40 seconds to go, and the Raptors were unable to break through after a timeout.

Bard plays Salve Regina in Hilton Head, SC on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
