The Bard College men's basketball team was stopped by the Ithaca Bombers, 62-116 on Saturday afternoon at Ben Light Gymnasium.
Sam Gibbs had ten points, two rebounds, and a block.
Azikiwe Cuffy-Scott contributed ten points, five rebounds, and a steal in 12 minutes.
Bryce Sampah accumulated a career-high ten points on five shots, adding two blocks, an assist, and a steal.
Lucas Tovar tallied eight points, a team-high five assists, a rebound, and a steal.
Klaudius Skehel had seven points, five rebounds, and three assists.
Michael Sweeney notched a career-high seven points plus a rebound.
Angelos Bratakos scored six and got a rebound, while
Dimitrios Zampoukas had two points, a rebound, and an assist.
Luke Ravitz scored two points and got a board.
Seth Dyer had three rebounds and an assist, and
Toure Napier-Rowell chipped in with a rebound and a steal.
Sebastian Matz and
Konstantinos Korfiatis came off the bench for four minutes apiece.
Cuffy-Scott was aggressive for the Raptors, scoring eight of the first nine for Bard. However, Ithaca caused mayhem with its aggressive defense, scoring on the fastbreak to take an early 14-2 lead. Shots continued to fall for the Bombers, who extended the lead to 30 at 39-9 at the 10:06 mark. Bard responded with eight of the next 11 points, including threes from Bratakos and Sampah. With 3:08 to play, the Raptors had an 8-2 offensive burst, but a late surge from Ithaca's Evan Cabral pushed the advantage back to 30.
The Bombers continued to put Bard in a bind, responding to a Gibbs three-pointer at the 18:25 mark with an 11-0 run over the next 2:34. At the 12:09 and 10:49 marks, Tovar penetrated and scored at the rim in an effort to give the Raptors some hope. However, starting at the 10:26 mark, Ithaca went on a 16-4 run that took them over the century mark. The Bombers put away the game for good with their 103-46 advantage with 7:05 remaining.
The road trip continues with a 5:30 p.m. tipoff Friday at Skidmore.
