BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Melania Hracs and
Goldie Siff's goals helped the Bard College women's soccer team defeat Brooklyn, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Bard had a 7-1 shots on goal and 9-1 corners advantage. The Raptors took charge early with a shot from
Carina Cooke after five minutes of play.
Alexandria Loner,
Nikki Magnozzi, and
Isabella Tramposch also joined in on the shooting party but were unable to find the back of the net. Cooke had two back-to-back shots but unfortunately hit the crossbar.
In the second half, Bard took an early shot, as Loner fired one to the right side. Siff was substituted into the game in the second half at 56:01. It took Siff only five minutes to find the back of the net as Cooke took a shot, but the goalkeeper saved it. Siff found the rebound and finished it off. This is Siff's first goal of the season.
Hracs got her second goal of the season and her first back-to-back goals in two games. Brooklyn's defender was unable to find her teammate, and Hracs had an open shot from the 25-yard line. Hracs fires a rocket to the top left corner of the goal, Brooklyn's goalkeeper tried to save it, but the ball bounced back into the goal line, giving the Raptors their second goal.
Thayden Hamilton-Howard had one save, while
Camila Sandaal and
Natalie Wing played the full 90 minutes.
Bard will compete again next Saturday when they travel to William Paterson for a 5 p.m. kick-off.
