ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Bard College Director of Athletics & Recreation, Stefanie Carrington, has announced the promotion of Lydia Johnson to Director of Sports Performance and Head Athletic Trainer. Johnson has been at Bard for two years in the role of Assistant Athletic Trainer.

"I'm excited to be entering this new role at Bard where I can continue to work towards growing the sports medicine department," said Johnson. "This opportunity will allow me to continue supporting the student athletes and contribute to the success of Bard Athletics."

"Lydia has been an important contributor to our department for the last two years and has gained the love and respect of coaches and student athletes alike" says Carrington. "I knew she was ready to take the next step in her career and I couldn't be more pleased to know that she's going to do that here in Annandale. I look forward to collaborating with her in this new capacity to provide the highest quality experience for our student athletes."

Johnson came to Bard after a year with Brockport in 2023, where she worked closely with coaches and student-athletes in several Division III sports for the Golden Eagles. She also worked as a preceptor for the master's program and served as a per diem AT at Division II Roberts Wesleyan University.

A graduate of Brockport, Johnson earned her bachelor's in Athletic Training and was also honored with the Clinical Experience Award from the department. She was a member of the Brockport women's rugby team and served as a captain of the club for two years.
