Men’s Tennis Recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team; Four Raptors recognized as Scholar Athletes

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.— Four members of the Bard College men's tennis team were honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2024-25 season. The team was also recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team.

The four students honored were first-year Ciaran Chamberlain, juniors Faisal Jones and Thanasis Kostikas, and senior Yashar Khan. The team finished with a 3.38 GPA this academic year. 

First-year Ciaran Chamberlain is studying politics. Chamberlain played in nine singles and seven doubles matches in his first season. He recorded his first career singles win against Mount St. Mary. 

Junior Faisal Jones is majoring in economics and music composition. Jones played at No. 1 singles in two matches, and he played at No. 2 singles in ten matches. He played at No. 1 doubles in 11 matches and filled the No. 2 doubles spot once. He is also a member of the CSC Academic All-District team.

Junior Thanasis Kostikas is majoring in mathematics and physics. Kostikas played 11 of 13 matches at No. 1 singles and played all 13 matches at No. 1 doubles. He led the team with five singles wins. He is also a member of the CSC Academic All-District team.

Senior Yashar Khan is majoring in physics. He played in 13 singles and 13 doubles matches for the Raptors in his final season. Khan played eight matches at No. 3 singles, and the majority of his doubles matches were played at No. 2 doubles.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
