Box Score JAMAICA, N.Y. — The Bard men's tennis team defeated the York Cardinals in their season finale on Thursday afternoon. The Raptors had five players but still won decisively.
Thanasis Kostikas and
Faisal Jones won at No. 1 doubles without dropping a game. At No. 2 doubles,
Yashar Khan and
Augustin Johnson were able to get by York to secure the doubles point. Johnson tied with
Ciaran Chamberlain for the team-lead in doubles victories in 2024-25, with four.
Kostikas won at No. 1 singles, making him the team leader in singles wins to finish the year, with four. His ground strokes consistently allowed him to come back in games he was behind in. At No. 2 singles,
Faisal Jones broke serve multiple times in each set, leading to his straight-sets victory.
George Miahkov earned his first career singles win, eeking out a nail-biter of a first set. He proceeded to cruise in the second set and didn't drop a game. Khan completed his college career with a win at No. 4 singles, 6-1 6-0. Despite difficult court conditions, he limited errors and breezed through his match.
At No. 5 singles, Johnson finished first, using an attacking playstyle to force errors from the Cardinals. They will return in the Fall to close out their senior season.
The Raptors complete their season 3-10 with road wins against Mount St. Mary, Delhi, and York.
