The Bard College baseball team fell to Vassar on Friday afternoon.
Bard and Vassar were neck and neck at the early stages of the game. The Brewers broke through in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a sac fly. Vassar added more runs in the next three innings to take a 6-0 lead.
In the top of the sixth, Bard finally got on the board with an RBI single by
Sam Dumper and an RBI single by
Rob DeBello to get Bard within four of Vassar. The Brewers did not hold up as they added eight runs.
Dumper was the lone Raptor with two hits.
Gavin Gonzalez,
Xavier Webb, and
Jimmy Famularo each had a hit.
Bryant Elliott started on the mound for the Raptors and threw 5 innings with three strikeouts, while
Aidan Kiefer and
Jackson Sprinzen came out of the bullpen and threw in the sixth inning.
Bard will host Vassar on Sunday for a doubleheader at Honey Field. The first pitch is at 12 p.m.
