RECAP: Baseball drops non-conference game at Williams

Box Score The Bard College baseball team could not hold on to the early lead against Williams on Tuesday afternoon. 

Bard and Williams combined for a total of 32 hits on the day, with 12 hits coming from the Raptors. The Bard starting lineup had at least one hit on the day, with Xavier Webb and Rob DeBello leading the way with two hits each. DeBello added two runs and an RBI, while Webb had a run and an RBI. Jimmy Famularo had a team-high two RBI, while Gavin Gonzalez had a team-high two walks. 

Nikhil Newman started on the mound for the Raptors and threw 3.0 innings with a strikeout. Five other Raptors came out of the bullpen to pitch, with Evan Landsman being the highlight with two strikeouts and throwing 2.0 innings. 

Williams got on the board early in the bottom of the first inning with three runs. Bard responded in the top of the third inning with seven runs, which included an RBI double from Webb, an RBI single by Sam Dumper, an RBI double from Gonzalez, an RBI groundout by Jimmy Famularo and Jack Burcell, and an RBI double by Kyle Palleschi. The Ephs reduced the deficit by adding two runs on the board, but Bard added a run in the top of the fourth inning. 

The Ephs took advantage of the changes on the mound by the Raptors and scored runs in each inning, starting from the bottom of the fourth. Bard tried to reduce the deficit in the top of the eighth but could only score one run off an error by Williams. 

Bard will travel to Vassar on Friday to start their last conference series of the season and will face the Brewers on Saturday for a doubleheader at Honey Field.
