RECAP: Men’s Tennis Stopped by Ithaca

| By:
Box Score ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard men's tennis team dropped a Liberty League match to Ithaca on a chilly Sunday afternoon.

The Bombers were dealing out finishing blows at the net during doubles and clinched the No. 1 & No. 2 doubles. Ithaca got the default win at no. 3 doubles. It was Yashar Khan and Ciaran Chamberlain's first appearance at No. 2 doubles as a team.

Thanasis Kostikas resumed his place at the top at No. 1 singles, battled defensively but ultimately fell to his opponent. Faisal Jones overcame a rough start on serve, recovering from early double faults to deliver unreturnable serves to well-placed targets but came up short against his opponent.

Khan played at No. 3 singles for the sixth time this season, falling in straight sets. His opponent was able to find opportunities for drop shots that either fell for winners or forced Khan into a defensive shot. Augustin Johnson played at No. 4 singles for the first time this season. Though they didn't get on the scoreboard, they fought hard against the pace of their Ithaca opponent. At No. 5 singles, Ciaran Chamberlain completed the lineup, using hard-to-handle serves to take the opening game of the match.

The Raptors have a non-conference home match against Purchase on Thursday at 3 p.m.
