CANTON, N.Y. — The Bard men's tennis team played a conference match against St. Lawrence at Newell Field House on Sunday afternoon.

Thanasis Kostikas and Yashar Khan played at No. 1 doubles together for the first time, while Faisal Jones and George Miahkov took the court at No. 2 doubles.

At No. 3 doubles, Augustin Johnson and Ciaran Chamberlain served well in the final two service games, but the Saints overcame were able to adjust from the Bard's serves. It is Johnson's first match of the season.

The Raptors no. 1 singles player, Kostikas, was able to win a handful of cat-and-mouse points, with both players scrambling for drop shots and short angle balls. However, St. Lawrence's top player came through relatively unscathed.

Jones continued his campaign at No. 2 singles, and saw opportunities to break serve in the second set, but was unable to convert any of them.

At No. 3 singles, Miahkov held his serve in the second set to win a game, but his opponents serve and volley forced quick points on the scoreboard on the way to the win.

Bard will have a couple of weeks off as it prepares for a trip to Delhi. The match is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. on March 27th.
