RECAP: Women’s Lacrosse Matches up with Eastern Connecticut

Emerson Embrey extends 2+ point streak to six games

The Bard College women's lacrosse team scored in the first and fourth periods against the Eastern Connecticut Warriors on Wednesday, falling in the final game of their spring break trip.

Emerson Embrey scored two goals, had a draw control, and had one caused turnover, making it six straight games with at least two points. Izzi Popolizio scored a goal and had an assist. Gwendolyn Jamison had a goal in the effort. Maggy Peyton dished out an assist and had a team-high three draw controls.

Maya Junkins led the Raptors in ground balls, with three. Morgan Ruhle was disruptive on defense, causing a turnover. Keira Redmond had 11 saves, her third game this season with double-digit saves. Lexie Blackburn also played 8:37 in goal and made a save.

The Warriors scored two goals in the opening 1:01, gaining an early lead. Embrey answered back at the 12:52 mark with an unassisted goal. That marked her team-leading 13th total goal this season. Bard held Eastern Connecticut scoreless for almost eight minutes in the middle of the first period, but the Warriors broke through at the 6:00 mark. That kickstarted a run that put the game in control of Eastern Connecticut. The Raptors were even with the Warriors in draw controls in the second and third periods but could not score. In the fourth period, Embrey restarted the scoring for Bard, and this time she was assisted by Popolizio at the 12:12 mark. Maggy Peyton found Jamison with two minutes remaining for a score. As time was winding down, Popolizio called her own number and scored her ninth goal of the season.

Eastern Connecticut's second leading goal scorer, Abby Parisi, scored early in the game, but the Raptors' defense cracked down on her the rest of the contest. Her one goal and two points both were season-lows.

Bard hosts its Pink Out game against Liberty League opponent Clarkson on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
