ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College women's basketball team dropped a Liberty League game against the Vassar Brewers on Friday evening at Stevenson Athletic Center. 

Erin Tobes had a team-high eight points and added four rebounds. Tianna Gonzalez contributed six points on 3-of-6 shooting, adding two steals. Shirley Dong had five points, two rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

Lexi Miller had four points and four rebounds. Aislynn Dixon had three points and a team-high five rebounds. Alleisha Romain converted a three-point play for her three points and added a rebound.

The Raptors gained their first lead in the opening quarter of a Dong three-pointer. Vassar had an answer, scoring 16 straight. Bard's defense was more effective in the second quarter, allowing just 11 points. The Raptors outshot the Brewers 27.3% to 23.1% in the second quarter. Gonzalez matched her career-high with two steals in the frame to lead the Raptors.

The Brewers came out of the locker room executing their plays, hitting 5-of-11 from three-point range in the second half. The Raptors increased their scoring output in the fourth quarter, led by four from Gonzalez. 

Overall, Bard battled with Vassar on the offensive glass, with both teams grabbing eight of their own misses. Sierra McDermed, the leading scorer in the two teams' last meeting, was limited to five points on 2-of-7 shooting by Bard. The Raptors also focused on containing Tova Gelb, the current Liberty League Performer of the Week, holding her to just nine points—marking only the third time in 20 games she hasn't scored in double figures.

The Raptors host Skidmore tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Stevenson Athletic Center to conclude Inclusive Excellence Weekend.
