ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard men's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker against Vassar, as the Brewers defeated the Raptors 81-78 in overtime on Friday night at Stevenson Athletic Center.

Bard had four Raptors in double-digit points, with Lazaros Panagiotounis scoring a near career-high 28 points. Panagiotounis added nine rebounds, two assists and a steal, while going 7-of-8 from the line. Rowan Heinze had his second double-double of the season with 18 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. He added two assists, a block and a steal.

Sean Wilcox had a near double-double with 16 points and eight rebounds. He swatted four blocks to reach 100 career blocks, making him the third Raptor to do so. Azriel Almodovar had his second double-double this season with 12 points and 12 rebounds, a team-high six assists, and two steals. Luke Ravitz and Jalen Umstead each added two points.

The first half was a low-scoring game of 29-27 to Vassar. The Raptors were playing catchup in the first half as the Brewers took as much as a nine-point lead. In the second half, tied up at 39-39 at 13:25, Bard went on a 14-6 run to take their biggest lead of the night with eight. Vassar answered with a 9-0 run to take back the lead, 57-53 with 6:30 left.

With less than 2 minutes left, tied at 65-65, it was a one-point game between Bard and Vassar. Tied at 69-69 with less than 10 seconds, both teams had a chance to make the winning shot but instead went to overtime. It is the first time that the Raptors went to overtime against Vassar since February 22, 1992.

Vassar went on a 7-0 run at the start of overtime, but the Raptors answered back with a 9-2 run to tie the game up 78-78 with 18 seconds left. Vassar had possession with 10 seconds left and Sacha Greenberg made his only three-pointer of the game for the game-winning shot.
