The Bard College men's basketball team battled it out at RPI but fell short of its comeback, as the Engineers took the victory, 62-54 on Friday night.
Bard had three Raptors in double-digit figures as
Lazaros Panagiotounis led the team with 15 points and seven rebounds. He added three steals and two assists.
Sean Wilcox shot 5-of-6 from the field and scored 14 points. He added two rebounds, two steals and a block.
Rowan Heinze added 11 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals, while
Azriel Almodovar had five rebounds, a team-high four assists and three steals.
The Raptors had a slow start in the first half, as RPI went on a 13-0 run to take a 21-6 lead after 10 minutes of play. Bard answered back with a 9-0 run to get within six points of the Engineers. Both teams struggled to score with less than five minutes left in the first half, as the last bucket made was by RPI with less than 53 seconds left.
At the start of the second half, Bard got to a quick start as they got within four points of RPI. The Raptors went on a 12-2 run with less than 8 minutes left to get within four but the Engineers always had an answer for Bard's mini runs.
Bard will be back tomorrow when they take on Hobart at 4 p.m. for their last road game of the season.
