Gabrielle Parchment smashed her 60-meter school records by 0.31 and Clemente Esponilla was first in the 3K as the Bard College track and field team started their indoor season at Yankee Small College Invitational at Smith College on Saturday. The women placed fifth with 38 points, while the men finished 7th with 11 points. 

Parchment finished fourth in the 60 meters with a time of 8.52, smashing her time of 8.88 from last season. Parchment also placed in her first high jump event, clearing 1.36m and placing third. She was part of the quartet team that came second in the 4x200. 

Mieke Matteson placed second in the high jump, clearing 1.36m, while competing in the long jump and the 4x400 relay. The quartet of Sadie Torre, Mieke Matteson, Emma St. Peter, and Camila Sandaal finished third. Carina Cooke and Lismery Guzman-Cruz, who joined the track and field team this season, competed in the 60m dash and the 200m. Cooke placed fifth in her first 200m and was part of the team that finished second in the 4x200. J'adora Lively jumped a personal best in the long jump, clearing 4.20m. 

On the men's side, Esponilla shined in the 3K, crossing the line first at 9:38.93. Avery Crafton and Calvin Thomas appeared in their first collegiate meet. Crafton ran the 60m and 200m, while Thomas ran the 5K.  

Bard will be back on February 15 when they compete at the NYU Invitational.
