ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College men's soccer team honored its four seniors,
Pierre Deliso,
Gavin Hersey,
Sam Gerber, and
Ben Steketee, in front of an energetic crowd on Saturday afternoon. Ithaca and Bard drew, 0-0.
In the first half, Ithaca couldn't muster a shot on goal through Bard's defense, and the Raptors were able to maintain a 66% edge in possession. Bard, on the other hand, had multiple opportunities to score, with five different Raptors attempting shots on goal. The first came from
Pape Davidson 7:14 into the game. Another came from
Brandon Alchy at the 23:30 mark, but it was from too deep out to cause any damage.
Perhaps the Raptors' best opportunity to score in the entire match was a highlight-reel bicycle kick attempt from
Devon Green with 7:23 left in the first half. In the final two minutes,
Henry Skeltis and
Emmett Olson were two additional shot-takers that the Bombers' goalkeeper denied.
Davidson fired a game-high three shots for Bard in the second half, but he couldn't find the back of the net. In the 58th minute, Steketee had a shot that sailed just high. Bard's final scoring opportunity of the match came from
Frankie Perera-Modica, as he angled a shot towards the goalkeeper, only to see it saved. The Raptors did well to withstand late pressure from Ithaca, as both teams played more directly and opted to send the ball over midfield. Only two corners were taken in the second half, one by each team.
Hersey played the first half in goal and handled some tough crosses from Ithaca. He also had a few punts that went over midfield, giving Bard advantageous field position.
Jake Sudit played the second half, recording two saves to keep the game scoreless.
Bard ended the season 8-7-3, with three points from ties in the Liberty League. The Raptors will look back on 2025 fondly, as they recorded their most wins since 2010.
