ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College men's tennis team recorded the first ever sweep over Yeshiva across 15 meetings on Sunday afternoon. Additionally, the last three-match win streak for the Raptors was back in 2013-14, when Bard won four in a row.
Nick Oh and
Ivan Borshchev came back from 3-4, 0-40 down to win 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.
Blake Kendall and
Ciaran Chamberlain faced a 1-4 deficit and won back-to-back games at No. 2 doubles, but the Maccabees closed it out.
Peter Trimble and
Thanasis Kostikas took the final six games at No. 3 doubles to claim victory.
Oh won a tight first set at No. 1 singles 6-4, and he went on to win the second by two breaks, 6-2. Kostikas fell behind a set at No. 2 singles, but he played with freedom to take the second set 6-2. In the ten-point tiebreak, the senior finished strong to win his final fall match and third match in a row. At No. 3 singles. Borshchev gained a rhythm in the later stages, winning 6-4 6-2.
Kendall earned another win at No. 4 singles, coming back from 2-5 down to force a tiebreak and win it 7-4. He sealed the first set with a sharp angled volley winner. The second set was more one-sided, going to Kendall 6-2. Trimble delivered another clutch performance, winning a close battle to keep his record at No. 5 singles flawless. As the match went on, the rallies got longer, testing both players' endurance. Chamberlain earned a quick victory, only dropping five games total. He moved to 2-1 at the No. 6 singles position.
The Raptors' fall season is over, and Bard will resume play on March 28th at 10 a.m. when they travel to Hobart.
