Box Score SCRANTON, PA — The Bard College men's tennis team won versus the Marywood Pacers on Tuesday afternoon.
Nick Oh and
Ivan Borshchev overtook the Pacers 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Blake Kendall and
Ciaran Chamberlain went ahead with an early break 3-0 at No. 2 doubles, but Marywood strung together six of the next seven games. At No. 3 doubles,
Peter Trimble and
Thanasis Kostikas took a decisive 6-1 victory to give the Raptors the doubles points.
At No. 1 singles, Liberty League Singles Performer of the Week, Oh played with more consistency than the Pacers, using late runs in each set to take it 6-2, 6-2. At No. 2 singles, Kostikas downed Marywood, including a straightforward 6-0 second set. At No. 3 singles. Borshchev handled the Pacers' offense and clinched the match for Bard.
At No. 4 singles, Kendall came out of the gates strong and battled to win 6-2, 6-3. At No. 5 singles, Trimble won points in a variety of ways, with a mix of groundstrokes, lobs, volleys, and overheads. Chamberlain won three games at No. 6 singles and made a good effort to chase down shots.
The Raptors will host Yeshiva on Sunday at 12 p.m.
