ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College women's basketball team competed with the St. Lawrence Saints in Liberty League action on Friday evening at Stevenson Athletic Center.
Shirley Dong had a game-high 12 points and added five rebounds.
Erin Tobes contributed four points, two rebounds, and an assist.
Lexi Miller had seven points, a game-high three blocks, and a team-high seven rebounds.
Jessica Martin scored six points on 3-of-8 shooting, going 3-of-5 from two-point range. She added an assist and two rebounds in 25 minutes.
Aislynn Dixon had three points and a rebound.
Melina Koulouri had two points off of free throws along with a rebound.
Tianna Gonzalez crashed the glass for five rebounds.
In a defensive first quarter, Bard held St. Lawrence to under 30% shooting (5-of-17). The Raptors gained an early 7-5 lead behind Dixon, Tobes, and Dong scores. The Saints responded with six straight points and held a three point lead after one. Bard scored 13 in the second quarter, led by Dong with five. The Raptors were down ten at halftime, 22-32, but led in rebounds 23-21, blocks 3-0, and second-chance points 4-2.
The Saints pulled away in the second half, using a 13-0 run.
Shirley Dong had a response after a timeout to stop the bleeding. In the fourth, the Raptors held the Saints scoreless between the 8:48 mark and the 3:03 mark, limiting St. Lawrence to 14 points in the quarter overall.
The Raptors will challenge Clarkson tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Stevenson Athletic Center.
