RECAP: Men’s Soccer battle past Sarah Lawrence, 1-0

Olson nets game-winner

Sophomore Emmett Olson scored in the 10th minute with the game's only goal as the Bard College men's soccer team earned their fifth straight win on Tuesday evening with a 1-0 victory over Sarah Lawrence.

The Raptors started strong, having three shots on goal after six minutes of play. A foul called on the Gryphons in the 10th minute gave the Raptors their best chance on goal outside the box. Olson ripped the ball to the goalkeeper's left side, just enough to get past the keeper's hand and into the back of the net.

Bard was back on the offense with Henry Skeltis taking a shot on goal in the 13th minute but the effort was thwarted by Sarah Lawrence's goalkeeper. The Raptors had nine shots in the first half and a 6-to-1 corner kicks advantage.

In the second half, Bard only had a one shot advantage over Sarah Lawrence, 5-4, as the Gryphons prevented any corner kicks for the Raptors and became more offensive. With less than five minutes remaining, Julian Landau made a great save to prevent Sarah Lawrence's equalizer goal.

Landau and Will Beane-Rosenberg shared their fourth shutout game. Landau had a career high three saves, while Beane-Rosenberg had one save.

The Raptors will host St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ferrari Field.
