Gallery: (4-5-2024) Baseball vs New Paltz
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College baseball team fell to New Paltz, 12-4, in the first of a three game series on Friday afternoon at Honey Field.
Bard had two players hit .500 or better in today's game, including junior
Jimmy Famularo who went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Senior
Michael Kurlan went 2-for-4 with a double, while four other Raptors had at least one hit each.
Gavin Gonzalez,
Kam Naficy and
Jamie Fryer each had an RBI, with Fryer making an appearance as a pinch hitter.
Junior
Bryant Elliott started today's game, throwing 5.1 innings with six strikeouts. Sophomore
Kane Morgan took over pitching duties in the sixth and threw 2.2 innings with a strikeout. First-year
Luke Langford came out of the bullpen in the ninth and allowed just two hits.
New Paltz took an early lead in the top of the third inning with an RBI single that brought home two runs, but the Raptors responded in the bottom of the fourth with three runs. Bard loaded the bases and scored their first run off a hit-by-pitch to Gonzalez, followed by a groundout RBI by Naficy and Gonzalez scoring off a wild pitch. The Hawks plated nine runs in the top of the sixth and the Raptors were unable to get momentum back, scoring one run in the bottom of the ninth.
Bard will continue the series against New Paltz tomorrow in a double header beginning at noon. The Raptors will also be celebrating First Responders Day with the Red Hook Fire Department and Bard EMT throwing the first pitch.
