ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College men's volleyball team split their tri-match against Buffalo State and Purchase on Saturday at the Stevenson Athletic Center. The Raptors fell to the Bengals in the first match of the morning before defeating the Panthers in straight sets in the afternoon.
Bard had four players tally double-digit kills, with graduate student
Angel Obergh leading the team with 26 kills and 18 digs. Obergh had 17 kills and hit .500 against Buffalo State. First-year
Lincoln Grisso totaled 23 kills and seven blocks, including tying his career-high of 13 kills and four blocks against Purchase. Grisso's classmate
Kincade Avery had 18 kills and 16 digs on the day, including 14 kills against Purchase and 10 digs against Buffalo State.

Ben Davis racked up 11 kills, with a career-high six kills against Purchase. Davis added a career-high three aces. Fellow classmate
Asa Platt started in the match against Purchase and had two aces, two digs and a kill. Sophomore setter
Georgi Chikolov totaled 70 assists, while
Micah Kelleher added two blocks.
Bard will be back in competition when they take on Endicott next Saturday at 11 a.m. for their first conference match of the season.
Buffalo State 3, Bard 1
The Raptors had a slow start, with Buffalo State quickly taking the first set, 25-14. Bard tied the match up, taking the second set 25-21, while maintaining the Raptors' best hitting percentage of the game with .391. The third set was back and forth until Buffalo State went on a 10-2 run at 15-12 to take a 2-1 lead. The fourth set saw the Raptors with a 22-18 advantage, but the Bengals fought back and went on a 7-1 run to secure the win.
Bard 3, Purchase 0
Looking to get back in the win column after falling in the morning match, Bard battled Purchase back and forth throughout the first set. At 21-21, Bard went on a 4-1 run to seal the set, thanks to two kills by Avery and block assists by Avery and Grisso.
In the second set, the Raptors went on a 12-3 run after being tied at 12-12. A service error by the Panthers secured the second set for the Raptors. The third set saw Bard with three match points, but Purchase fought back to tie the game and set themselves up with set point. The Raptors stayed calm at 25-26 and evened things up with a kill from Grisso. An attack error by Purchase gave the Raptors match point for the fourth time and a kill by Avery sealed the victory.
