TROY, N.Y. — The Bard men's basketball team fell in the quarterfinals of the Liberty League Tournament against #3 RPI, 67-50 at ECAV Arena.

Bard (14-12) had its best season in program history and will conclude the season with the most wins the program has ever had. Senior Lazaros Panagiotounis led the team with 16 points and added four rebounds.

Senior Azriel Almodovar had a near-double-double with nine points and eight rebounds. He also added three steals. Fellow senior Rowan Heinze also had nine points and added six rebounds and two blocks. Graduate student Kevin Le added five points, while junior Sean Wilcox added four points, four rebounds, and three blocks. Senior Elliot Harris added three points, while Cory Dennis and Heston Tucker had two points each.

Bard and RPI (16-10) were neck and neck in the first half, with neither team trailing more than four points. At 4:26, Bard had back-to-back jumpers from Panagiotunois and Almodovar to give the Raptors a four-point lead with less than a minute to go. RPI answered back with a jumper from Andrew Deppe. The Raptors were up by two heading into the second half.

In the second half, Bard and RPI were tied at 38-38 before the Engineers went on a 10-2 run to take a 48-41 lead. The Raptors got within four with less than 10 minutes to go, but it was the Engineers offensive rebounds and Bard not catching breaks from three-point range that made the difference in the second half (2-of-17).

This concludes the season for eight seniors: Almodovar, Dennis, Le, Harris, Heinze, Panagiotounis, Tucker and Mike Parme.

Notes:
  • Harris ends his career ranked 7th in the all-time scoring record with 1,078 points
  • Harris holds the school record for career three-pointers made with 243 and three-pointers made in a season with 78.
  • Almodovar ends his career ranked 4th all time with 150  steals.
