Gallery: (12-7-2024) Men's Basketball at Ithaca
The Bard College men's basketball team was bested by Ithaca in a Liberty League matchup on Saturday afternoon at Ben Light Gymnasium, 77-55.
Rowan Heinze led the team with 18 points, shooting 8-of-15 from the field. Heinze added five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Azriel Almodovar scored 15 points, his fifth double-digit point tally of the season. He grabbed a team-high eight boards and added three steals and two assists.
Sean Wilcox contributed with seven rebounds, two assists and a team-high three blocks. Wilcox is now tied for fourth in career blocks with 71. He joins William Purdom and Brandon Cunningham. Ithaca used its best defenders against
Lazaros Panagiotounis, who scored only six points. However, Panagiotounis was still able to dish out two assists and have three steals.
Bard and Ithaca were back and forth in the first half, with 10 lead changes and two scores tied. The Raptors were only down by two entering halftime. In the second half, Ithaca took an 11-2 run in the first four minutes to take an 11-point lead. Bard went on a 7-0 run to bring the deficit to four points with 14:46 left. However, the Bombers went on a 13-2 run, including three consecutive three-pointers that secured the dagger on the Raptors comeback.
Bard will host Union for its first Liberty League home game with a Pink Out theme on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The money raised from the Pink Out will go to Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation.
