Lazaros Panagiotounis was named the Liberty League Men's Basketball Performer of the Week.
In a 1-1 week in their season opener, Panagiotounis went for back-to-back 20+ point games, averaging 22.5 points per game, scoring 21 points against Sarah Lawrence and 24 points against Washington College.
Against Sarah Lawrence, Panagiotounis struggled to get going in the first half as the Gryphons played lockdown defense on him and only scored 4 points. In the second half, Panagiotounis scored 14 points and added 3 points during OT. He also added four rebounds and four steals.
In the win against Washington College, Panagiotounis shot 9-of-13 from the field and scored 24 points (19 points in the second half). He had only one turnover for the whole game and added two steals and two rebounds. After going 1-of-3 from behind the arc in the first half, he turned it around and went 5-of-7 from behind the arc in the second half.
It is Panagiotounis' first Performer of the Week award this season and the second in his career.
