The Bard College women's soccer team (2-6-1, 0-2 Liberty League) fell in a challenging matchup against RIT (5-2-3, 1-1-1 Liberty League) on Saturday afternoon at Doug May Field.
From the opening whistle, RIT asserted control, unleashing a barrage of attacks that kept the Raptors pinned in their own half. The Tigers fired off 14 shots in the first half alone, but Bard's defense, led by goalkeeper
Seymone Rosenberg, worked tirelessly to keep them at bay. Rosenberg made two key saves despite the pressure, and the backline fought hard to limit the damage. Unfortunately, RIT's relentless offense broke through, finding the net five times before the halftime whistle.
Bard had a glimmer of hope late in the first half when
Alexandria Loner broke free for a powerful strike, but RIT's goalkeeper stepped in and preserved the Tigers lead.
The second half saw an improved Bard defense. The Raptors adapted to RIT's attack, reducing their shot total to nine — a nearly 50% improvement.
McKenna Reeves took over in goal and made three crucial saves, helping to limit RIT to just two second-half goals.
While the Raptors' suffered a loss today, they showed grit and determination throughout the game, never backing down despite the pressure from the Tigers.
Bard will be back on the field October 8th for their first home conference game of the season against RPI at 4 p.m.
