ANNANDALE-ON HUDSON, N.Y. – The Tigers' Tate Pottle took the game's only goal on a scramble in front of goalkeeper
Julian Landau as the Bard College men's soccer team (5-6-0, 0-4-0 Liberty League) dropped a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon at Ferrari Field.
The Raptors had ten shots, with five on goal in the first half. Three of them were in a five-minute stretch, with
Luca Costanzo starting the onslaught. Costanzo shot on goal with his left foot, trying to put the Raptors on the board.
Ben Steketee and
Henry Skeltis tried to find space in the bottom of the net, but RIT's senior goalkeeper, Jason Trapp, saved all of the attempts.
Seven minutes later, Frankie Pereira-Modica sent a shot on goal that was clean off his foot but went straight at Trapp. During the first 45 minutes of action, the Raptors had a possession advantage of 55% to 45%, showing how often they put pressure on RIT.
RIT shifted gears in the second half, coming out of halftime with a lot of pent-up energy. At the 60:44 mark, the Tigers' Adrian Sobczak snuck a pass through the box to Tate Pottle, who found the right corner of the net.
The Tigers held on for the remaining half hour of action, even after the Raptors made substitutions to bring fresh legs on the turf.
There was a shift in
TJ Kostecky's goalkeeper rotation, as
Julian Landau played the whole match and tallied a career-high seven saves.
The Raptors will start a three-game road trip to Liberty League opponents, with the first match at Union next Saturday at 2 p.m.
