With less than 20 seconds left in the game, sophomore
Frankie Perera-Modica fired a right-foot rocket to the top left corner from past the 15-yard line to give the Bard College men's soccer team the victory over Purchase on Wednesday night, 3-2 at Purchase Soccer Field.
Bard was on the back foot for most of the first half as Purchase took an early 2-0 lead, scoring in the first half after 26 minutes of play and three minutes into the second half.
The Raptors found hope after
Kevin McDonough scored their first goal within three minutes of Purchase's second goal. McDonough took advantage of a Purchase defender header mistake inside the box as he found the back of the net to reduce the deficit to one.
The second goal came from
Robbie Boyd in the 67th minute of the game. A rebound shot fired by
Pape Davidson hit the crossbar and came right toward Boyd. Boyd quickly anticipated the ball and shot it to the bottom left corner of the goal to tie the game at 2-2.
Kincade Avery made his debut start in goal for the Raptors and had five saves. However, he could not finish the game as he suffered an injury after punching out a crossball in the box.
Julian Landau finished the rest of the game and had one save.
Bard had a 12-8 shots on goal advantage and a 5-2 corner kick advantage.
The Raptors will conclude their season with an away game to Skidmore on Saturday at 2 p.m.
